Volunteering with the “Book of Sārîs” is a commitment to fostering dialogue, understanding, and acceptance within our communities. Our volunteers are not just participants; they are the backbone of this project, guiding us toward a more empathetic and informed society. We deeply value the diversity of experiences and perspectives that each volunteer brings to this project, especially those who have navigated the complex intersection of faith and gender identity.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Cultural Ambassadors: This pivotal role is open to current or former transgender Christians who wish to share their experiences and to individuals from affirming churches who are eager to support and learn from these narratives. Cultural Ambassadors will serve as the heart of our project, initiating and nurturing the conversations that will be immortalized within the pages of “The Book of Sārîs”.

Security Personnel: Safety is our utmost priority. We invite groups from affirming churches to help maintain a secure environment at our events. Your presence will enable these important discussions to take place in a space where participants feel safe and respected.

Logistics Coordinators: Efficient logistics are the framework of any successful event. We are looking for organized groups from affirming churches who can oversee the details that make our project run smoothly, from transportation to setup and breakdown of event spaces.

Event Management Team: Help us create memorable experiences at each stop. If you have a knack for managing events and enjoy working behind the scenes to ensure that everything goes as planned, we need your skills.

Confidentiality and Care:

We understand the sensitive nature of our volunteers’ work. Therefore, volunteer identities will be kept confidential to ensure privacy and security. Before each event, we will gather to discuss roles, expectations, and the detailed flow of the event to ensure everyone is prepared and informed. After each event, we will hold a debrief to reflect on the experiences and discuss any follow-up actions needed.

Furthermore, recognizing the emotional labor our volunteers undertake, we have arranged for aftercare from certified counselors. These sessions are designed to provide support and allow volunteers to process their experiences in a healthy and constructive way.
